We are a small family business. Our goal is to give our customers a memorable experience in the tranquil archipelago of Arendal, a place of simple means, locally sourced food and sustainable living practices.

Askeladden

A classic vessel, our Askeladden 16-4400 was made in Os, Hordaland some miles south of Bergen in 1983. This model was selected for its ability to get close to the waterfront offering both a stunning view as well as access to prime fishing and foraging locations.

Though modest in size, she is a highly seaworthy, safe and comfortable boat in the sea.

Our Family

Leif is a trained, passionate chef with many years of experience as a steward and fisherman on a variety of fishing vessels both small and large. His culinary expertise is inspired by the local food movement and puts a nouveau twist on traditional Norwegian fare.

As a chef, he was trained at Le Gordon Bleu in 2008 and has gone on to work in restaurants including Østkantfolk and Fazer Food AkerBrygge His maritime work has taken him as far west as Flemish Capo outside Labrador and as far north as Spitzbergen. Among his experiences, Leif spent 3 seasons as a fisherman for the famous winter fisheries in Lofoten, the largest cod fishery in the world.

Olga
Leif’s wonderful wife Olga will be your host on shore. An educated lawyer from Russia, Olga is a proud mother of their 6 year old daughter Laila who helps out when she feels like it! 😊
